FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
"WHAT IS MAINSTAGE AND WHERE CAN I GET IT?"
MainStage is a software program designed by Apple that runs on Apple computers. It contains a variety of sound/instrument generating modules (commonly called plugins) and effects that you can apply to those sounds. MainStage is designed to be highly customizable and as such it is a fantastic option to expand your live keyboard rig! MainStage is currently only $30 and is available from the App Store.
"Can my computer run mainstage and what gear do I need?"
MainStage can open on any Apple computer that means the minimum specs listed in the App Store. However because of MainStage's customizability it is possible that not all Macs will be able to do everything MainStage is capable of. For all of our templates and patch bundles we recommend at least 8GB of ram and an Intel Core i5 processor. Lots of folks run MainStage on less than that so your mileage may vary.
The gear needed to run MainStage is relatively inexpensive. MainStage can connect to any keyboard/controller that can send midi data either over USB, Firewire, or through a midi to USB adaptor. You can use the headphone out of your computer for audio or you can use a USB/Firewire audio interface.
Because of it's user controlled layout, MainStage can be easily mapped to any midi control surface. Our worship template Sunday Keys is pre-mapped for the Korg nanoKontrol2 and we highly recommend it. However, no extra midi control surfaces are required to enjoy MainStage.

"My sustain/keyboard/modwheel/controller isn't working. what do i do?"
If one of your physical controls isn't controlling the appropriate on-screen control go to MainStage's "Layout" tab and select the on-screen control that isn't responding. Press the "Assign" button on the top left side of the screen and then move/depress/play the corresponding physical control that you want to assign to that item. MainStage will pick up that midi input and assign it to that control. Make sure to press "Assign" again when you're done so you don't accidentally assign that control to something else.
If this process doesn't work, make sure that your midi device is sending midi data to MainStage. Check all cables and connections to confirm. If you're still having trouble please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org

"DOES SUNDAY KEYS REQUIRE THE KORG NANOKONTROL 2 OR CAN I USE A DIFFERENT CONTROLLER?"
Sunday Keys is pre-mapped for the nanoKontrol2 but you can easily assign the on-screen controls to any controller that sends midi data. Simply re-assign any control you'd like from within MainStage's "Layout" tab. For more detailed help or questions about this process please email email@example.com
"i'm TRYING TO ADD MY OWN/ANOTHER DESIGNER'S PATCHES INTO SUNDAY KEYS BUT THERE'S NO SOUND. WHAT DO I DO?"
Load the patch/channel strip into Sunday Keys and select the channel strip/s in MainStage's "Edit" tab. At the bottom of the screen in the Channel Strip Inspector window choose the "Layer Editor" tab and make sure the the "Override Parent Layers" dialogue box is set to "Add."
"WHERE SHOULD I MAP ADDITIONAL PATCHES WITHIN SUNDAY KEYS?"
You can map your own patches or other's patches into the "Extra" slot of Sunday Keys quite quickly by simply selecting the on-screen knob in the "Extra" section, pressing the "Map" button from the Channel Strip Inspector window and then clicking on the appropriate channel strip volume fader. Make sure to set the "Max Value" for the knob to an appropriate amount. We recommend no more than 0dB for most channel strips.
If you'd like to add one of your own creations into one of the four main sections we recommend studying how the mappings were made in the existing Sunday Keys patches and then utilizing those processes to add mappings of your own. For more help send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
"HOW CAN I SAVE MY SETTINGS FOR A PATCH WITHIN SUNDAY KEYS?"
We recommend making duplicates of patches as you look to save your own presets. Once you've dialed in a sound you'd like to save using the on-screen controls, save the concert and/or export the patch (command+E) before switching to a different patch. From there MainStage will recall those on-screen settings when you next use the patch.
"MY CHURCH WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE MULTIPLE COPIES OF ONE OF YOUR PRODUCTS FOR USE ON MULTIPLE COMPUTERS/CAMPUSES. CAN WE GET A DISCOUNT?"

"HOW CAN I USE THE "REAL LOVE" VOCAL SAMPLES IN A DIFFERENT KEY?"
You'll have to manually pitch shift the vocal samples inside a DAW like Pro Tools or Logic Pro. We recommend searching YouTube for directions specific to your DAW of choice. From there you'll need to re-load the pitch-shifted samples into the EXS24 sampler instrument within the patch. YouTube has tutorials for how to do that as well, like this one.
